God's Call to Missions
Adams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church - That is the official name of this local church located at 228 Adams Chapel Road in Dresden, TN. However, it is more than a name. It was chosen over 100 years ago in 1907 when the church was first organized.
Today, this little country church with a world vision has prioritized being missionary. The church not only gives systematically through the Southern Baptist Convention's Cooperative Program, but it also gives systematically through the local Weakley County Baptist Association. Additionally, special offerings are promoted annually. The Lottie Moon International Missions Offering, the Annie Armstrong North American Missions Offering, the TN state missions offering, and the Children's Home offering.
However, more important than just giving money, is the priority of PRAYING and GOING! Adams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church teaches and encourages it's members to hear the call of God to go where He leads. Over the past several years many members have gone to Iowa, West Virginia, the Philippines, Honduras, Egypt, and Trinidad. Most of these mission trips were co-ordinated by the local Weakley County Baptist Association.
While state and national conventions are wonderful vehicles for carrying out the Great Commission, they are no replacement for the local church and the local association. Adams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church is grateful to be a part of a local association that is truly mission-minded. Currently, they have annual missions trips to West Virginia, Honduras, and Trinidad.
