Church History
Adams Chapel was organized in August of 1907 with a few charter members. Until a formal building could be built, they met in the Adams Academy School located just down the road from the present church building. The land for the church grounds was given by Henry & Mary Adams, Almus & Lue Adams, and Joe & Marthay Adams. The first building was a one-room frame building valued at that time at $1,000.00. The first dedication service was held in 1909 with Bro. Jackson preaching the sermon.
Through the years there have been several changes, additions, and renovations made. In 1947 the present building was built and the first service in the new building held on the fourth Sunday in November. This building was bricked in 1962 along with other needed interior improvements. Additions such as a new adult wing and fellowship hall were made in 1979 and 1984 which provided more room for church growth expansion. From 2000-2007, several needed improvements were made :added 2 handicap accessible restrooms in the upstairs Adult Wing, enlarged Sunday School classrooms in the children's department, brightened up & made safety renovations to the Preschool Department, partitioned off 2 new Sunday School rooms in the existing fellowship hall and we expanded our parking lot to encircle the church. In 2009, we began a downstairs renovation of our Children's and Youth Rooms, bathroom & hallway. We are constanly looking to make our church look it's best.
